Feedback from the Frontlines:
The Reason We Do What We Do!

We have a couple of great scrapbooks with letters, photos and certificates in them. We try to bring them to all of our "events" so that we can show them to you.  Below are just some of the emailed notes we've received.  They are the feedback that tells us how we are doing.  We hope you enjoy reading them! Our Thanks to Mrs. Sarah Bray for putting the scrapbooks together.

Please pray that the Lord would go ahead of these men and women on their missions, providing protection and guidance to each.  "See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared." Exodus 23;20.

Let me start by saying thank you on behalf of myself & my chaplain.....you folks are awesome!!! The boxes we got were fanstastic and seemed to be filled with just the right kinds of items.   SSG J. Brake, USAR

Mrs. Robbins, Cypress Cares and students and staff at Lieder

Elementary School (Cy Fair ISD). What a blessing your packages were to me and the

Soldiers of the 36th Infantry Division. We receive many packages,

but none that were wrapped like yours.  It was the closest we've

come since arriving here to feeling like we were back home at

Christmas opening presents. Thank you so much for the consideration

 and the joy that

 you gave us.

(this note is in response to packages we shipped filled with goods from Cy Woods HS Band)

I would like to thank you and your students for the care package I
received today. All of us here really appreciate packages from back
home. I was especially glad to receive the can of spaghetti, as that is
what I will enjoy for supper tonight. All is well here where I am right
now. We are starting to get some good weather now, and are anxious to
come home soon. I live off of 2920 between Spring and Tomball, and it is
nice to get a package from my hometown. Thanks to everyone.

Would like to thank you all for all the wonderful care packages I have received while I was deployed to Afghanistan. Great news I will be headed home soon so if you could please take me off your mailing list that would be great so other soldiers can enjoy these packages.

I just wanted to send a quick email saying thanks to everyone who has sent packages to the sailors on USS Mason. We all appreciate it so very much. We have another month to go before we reach homeport Norfolk; therefore, we probably won’t be able to receive anymore mail in a timely fashion before we get home. However, I would like to send my upmost respect and gratitude to everyone involved for the support they’ve shown during our time out to sea. Once again, the packages and cards were greatly appreciated and well received. The work this organization does is very valuable. Thanks so much!!!

Sincerely,

I am in Afghan with HMLA-267 (Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron). We have been out here since early May and only have a few months left. We are the key factor of Air Support for the guys on the ground doing what no one else wants to. We operate 24 HRS a day at an extremely high tempo. All the heat and hard work is worth it when we get packages out here from Americans that appreciate what we do. We all are very thankful when people back home spend their own time to do something to say thanks. Ya’lls support reminds why we do what we do.

Greetings from Bagram!

I would like to express my appreciation for making my deployment much better knowing that we have the support of others.  I am currently deployed from Davis-Monthan AFB in Tucson AZ.  I am doing postal duty on this deployment and recently we received a box full of Halloween goodies that we were able to share with many people here on base. Its great to know that people appreciate the fact that we are over here doing what we are doing. It makes it MUCH MUCH easier to get through the day knowing that. We miss our friends

and our families and even our very own nice comfy beds that we left back in the states. Halloween is just around the corner and even though we do not get to participate in some of the things going on back home, the bags of candy that you sent makes it so we don't miss out completely. I attached a picture of me and my co workers that was taken one day at work. (see below) Thanks again for everything you are doing!!!!!

Dear Cypress Cares,

I received 3 care packages including the large box full of Girl Scout cookies.  I shared them with the team here.  Everyone had their favorites.  Thank you so much for your support. It is very much appreciated. I had our platoon leader write to you as well. He asked about your organization and I showed him the brochure you had enclosed. He was very  grateful as well. Our expected date of return to the states (has moved up).  Good news for the families.  Once again, thank you for everything you do. I will, as soon as possible, have some of the soldiers post on your website, their thank you's as well.

Speaking as a Houstonian, it makes me very proud that very close neighbors are supporting us with your packages and good wishes.  Please pass along my best wishes to everyone in Cypress Cares and we look forward to meeting you soon when we get home.

Cypress Cares Team,

Thank you very much for sending me the care packages of food and items during this deployment. My soldiers and I greatly appreciate the gesture and absolutely love the cookies. I've had this box of girl scout cookies a matter of minutes and my guys are already reaching inside to grab some to munch on outside as they work. Needless to say the heat drains us of energy but these cookies help give it back to us.

I have attached a group picture of our company. I am located in the very bottom left corner. Thank you again for the generous gifts and we thank you for your thoughts and donations.

Hi I just wanted to email and thank you for all the packages I have been receiving for several months of my deployment in Iraq.  Its always a really good feeling when you get packages from people who care about you while you're over seas. But my deployment is coming to an end in February so my name can be taken off the mailing list. I'm sincerely grateful for all the volunteers and workers of cypress cares that made my deployment better.

Dear Cypress Cares Team,

Thank you for sending a care package of Girl Scout Cookies. It is always a nice treat to get anything from home, especially cookies. I shared them with my soldiers and they all loved them and really appreciate the gesture. We understand that you are taking time out of your days to send packages to people you have never even met and that warms our hearts and helps to remind us why we serve our great nation. Regretfully, I was not able to get any pictures since we cannot plug civilian cameras into government computers. Again I would like to thank you for the cookies and all that you do for our soldiers overseas.

Best Wishes,

Dear Cypress Cares,

THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR THE COOKIES! Receiving the cookies made our day. Being so far away from home can be hard, but gifts like the cookies I received really made happy. I will share the cookie with my troops and I know they will enjoy eating the cookies. I am a female commander serving with an all male team. I was once a Brownie then a Girl Scout. I'm a Active Duty Engineer; I joined the Army 10 years ago. I love serving my country. Again thank you so very much for the kindness you have showed me and sending me the wonderful gift. Have a great and blessed day.

Dear Cypress Cares Team

Just wanted to say thank you for the candy you sent . It arrived safe and un-melted . The temperatures average 98 to 100+ degrees here. I’m sure it will be eaten before it melts. Sorry but we couldn’t wait for Halloween.  You all need to know how great it makes all of us  feel to receive packages from people back home . Whether we know you or not it drives home the message to us that  we haven’t been forgotten and awesome people like you care.  Any military person stationed overseas welcomes any taste of home no matter how big or small.  You all have big hearts to go with your generosity. I have put Thomas’ picture  on the wall next to my desk to keep my spirits high. Please tell him thank you.

CC Team,
I am a Captain in the Indiana National Guard stationed at Camp Basrah, Iraq. This is my third tour here, and it is always tough to be away from home. Thankfully, the war is winding down and Iraq is well on it's way to becoming a stable independent country.
Today I received a care package containing many nice things, including some white cotton workout socks, tuna and tootsie pops. Thank you! Shared them with the men under my lead (not the socks, of course, but we had a guy who appreciated them LOL) and we all received a nice lift from it. Thank you very much. Acts of random appreciation from strangers are a great sign that our work here is not forgotten and is still appreciated.  wish you much success and joy with your outreach program!
Godspeed,

It was a pleasure to open my in-box to your e-mail. Rest assure that the cookies you sent us were put to good use. Thank you for placing us on your mailing list.

You mentioned that you had lots of supplies for the children of Afghanistan and it just so happens that we have access to lots of children of Afghanistan. Our area of operation is the province of Farah which is the fourth largest of Afghanistan and is one of the least developed. It is situated in the west and its arid landscape is traversed by a single river that remains dry most of the year. It is predominately an agricultural community with many of its citizens struggling to find work in this manufacturing and industry poor province. In the province of Farah, we run a clinic twice a week that helps on average about 500 to 600 people. We also run a supplemental food program on Saturdays that averages about 40 people a week. The children here would love your gifts and are in need of school supplies and shoes.

Thank you once again for your continued support. I can't tell how much you all help us knowing that there are great Americans back home that think of us and pray for us.

Cypress Care Team,

My name is Victor H. Rodriguez and I am from Eagle Pass, TX. I am currently in Afghanistan serving with a Civil Affairs Team and we received some girl scout cookies mailed from your organization. They were addressed to the team we replaced but I think they won't mind if we help ourselves to them. I would like to thank you on behalf of my team and express how grateful we are of your support for the troops. It was an incredible gesture on your part that reminds us of home and gives us the motivation to continue and persevere through our time away from our loved ones.
As a Civil Affairs Team we were able to give the toys that were sent to us to the children of Afghanistan. You'll be happy to learn that your time and effort gave the kids of Afghanistan a reason to smile and give them hope for a better tomorrow. Once again I can't even begin to describe how grateful we are of your gifts and we want you and everyone that supports you to know that you have made a difference. Thank you and God bless you.

Dear Cypress Cares-

Thank you so much for the packages you have been sending.  I grew up in Katy, and I think my mom was the one who signed me up for this.  I am a harrier pilot for the United States Marine Corps and my squadron is currently at Kandahar Airfield.  I have received three packages from your organization so far, and I must say that all three were some of the best packages I've gotten in my entire career.  I shared all three of them with the Marines in my squadron (mainly the ones I am in charge of though), and we will just say that they didn't last long!  We are very busy out here as of late and internet connectivity is a bit sketchy at times, so even if you don't receive many responses I can promise you that your efforts are GREATLY appreciated.  Thanks so much again for your support!

Very respectfully,

Captain A. "Guids" Guidry

Hello, my name is Jeff Swan and I'm currently in the process of De-mobing and starting that great process of heading back home to my wonderful family and friends.  I just wanted to take a little time out and send you guys an email to say thanks for all that you guys have done with your wonderful gift packages, letters, cards and support.  I sent you a few other emails in the past with some pictures and again just wanted to say thanks.  It was a long deployment in Afghanistan but well worth it.  I know that we are doing great things over there for the Afghan nationals and there is change happening.  I just want to let everyone know that there thought and prayers didn't go unanswered.  It was hard being away from our families and friends but with everyone's support it went by quick.  Like I said I'm going home to a great family and friends and also a new born baby my wife and I are adopting.  This past year there have been many changes and it was great to have everyone's thoughts a prayers.  If your readers have time when they read this to take a moment to stop and say a quick prayer for the ones that are still over here defending out GREAT country that would mean a lot to me and lets not forget about the ones that are back in the states as well serving because without there support none of this could be taking place.  I think to many people forget about them but they are just important and the ones over here.  Thanks again for all that you guys are doing.  God bless you and your families and the GREAT country that we live in.

Sir/Ma’am

I would first like to thank you for all you and the other supporters have done for me.  I know it doesn’t seem like much, but it is a great gift to get things from back in the states while serving our nation overseas.  I think not only is it a relief, but from folks whom I have never met, shows me the pride and support the United States and its people have for each other.  I just wanted to say thank you... I want to say thank you and I am proud of all you have done, all you are doing and all you will do.  Thank you.  God bless.
